Whilst the twitching world drools over the news that Britain's second Magnolia Warbler was found on Fair Isle this evening, I think it is time to remain calm and focus on the words of a Norwegian birder posted online this evening
"might be of interest to know that the biggest irruption of Hawk Owls
into SW-Norway since 1983 is currently taking place. Already tens of
birds are appearing in the extreme SW."
It's also worth highlighting the last Hawk Owl in Britain was on Shetland, and yes you guessed it, in September 1983!
Now that really would put the Vikings amongst the Yanks!
