Saturday 30th January
A trip to a wintry Bodmin Moor today produced a dusting of snow but bright suuny skies. Highlight birds included Golden Plover, Lapwing and a fine drake Lesser Scaup on Dozmary Pool showing well along with 2 Goldeneye a few Pochard and Tufted Duck.
A brief afternoon visit back on the Otter revealed 6+ Ringed Plover, 100+ Wigeon on the sea along with a single Shoveler, but no sign of the Bittern, no doubt due to the disturbance of some shooting taking place in its favoured field. I just hope the shooters know the difference between a pheasant and a Bittern! Fingers crossed it will feed undisturbed tomorrow....
