Monday 4th May
Yesterday, I ventured on a day of seeing as many species as possible in the Budleigh area on my bike! An exhausting day of cycling up and down hills in a rather bracing NE wind as a fairly respectable 83 species were notched up between the hours of 05.00hrs and 20.00hrs.
Highlights included a Tree Pipit over the Otter early morning, a Peregrine chasing a Dunlin over the sea, an unseasonal 1st Summer Eider off Budleigh seafront and 2 unseasonal Red-breasted Mergansers on the estuary. Perhaps, not unsurprisingly, few migrants and not much on the sea, but an enjoyable day all the same.
Get back on your bike and come and see me. I'll get the cherry bakewells in.
