Another fiercely cold day with temperatures failing to get much above freezing. No sign of the hoped for "patch mega" in the form of yesterday's Waxwing, but some good counts of wildfowl around the estuary.

Shoveler - 2 drakes
Pintail - 1 drake
Goosander - 1 redhead on the river
Eider - 2 on the sea
Common Scoter - 3 on the sea
Teal - 150+
Wigeon- no specific count
Med. Gull - 1 adult
Black-tailed Godwit - 2
Knot - 1
Grey Plover- 1
Glossy Ibis - 1

I like the reference to the patch mega (waxwing)... then read the list of birds seen (glossy ibis). Quality!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fair cop John! I guess I should remember just how lucky we are having "flossy" on the patch. Please send down more of those "trilling punks" to the south-west though. Sixty around your house!
