East meets West in Penzance

Today the Mrs and I spent the day in West Cornwall around the Penzance area. A great day with lovely calm flat seas and sunshine and some good birds too including a number of long staying rarities from both sides of the world, America and Central Asia!

Highlights included:
Eastern Black Redstart - 1st W male Mousehole
Hudsonian Whimbrel - 1 Perranuthnoe, Boat Cove
Green-winged Teal - 1 drake Hayle
Velvet Scoter - 2 Mounts Bay
Purple Sandpiper - 6 Jubilee Pool
Great Northern Diver - 5 Mounts Bay
Black-throated Diver - 3 Perranuthnoe
Goosander - 6 on the Hayle
