Sunday 19th April 2009
Well and truly back in blighty now and working the new patch - nothing spectacular to date but highlights have been the return of numerous common migrants, a Grasshopper Warbler, good Peregrine displays and good numbers of Whimbrel and Manx Shearwaters passing through. Still it is early days and as a wise old friend of mine, Nigel, once told me, "remember, the BIG ONE always travels alone!!"

So whilst we all await the BIG ONE, here are some more shots from Sri Lanka....

Blue Whale

Brown Fish Owl

Blue-tailed Bee-Eater

Ceylon Small Barbet

Feeding Turtles at Hikkaduwa

A very civilised Sri Lankan cup of tea and cake!

Painted Stork

Great Thick-Knee

Spot-winged Thrush

and saving the best 'til last, the awesome Pied Thrush!!!
