1st January 2010 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!
A really cold day today and the Mrs and I decided to do a year listing day. We tried to stay fairly local and managed a rather disappointing 86 species but I guess considering we only visited The Otter, Sidmouth, Aylesbeare and Bowling Green/Exe it wasn't bad! I like to think it was more about quantity than quality! Highlights included Whimbrel (Otter) , Purple Sandpiper (2 at Sidmouth), Scaup (female BGM), Blackcap (neighbour's garden), Spotted Redshank (Exe) and Barn Owl (Colaton Raleigh). However, a Red-necked Grebe off Budleigh Seafront was a slight gripper, seen by one of the locals early afternoon, but no sign later in the day. I shall be checking tomorrow!
All in all a good day and we were even privileged to have the company of our good friends Sarah and Alex for part of it.

To the end the day, the last of the Mrs' very tasty Christmas Cake!
