The Teal x Wigeon hybrid was also present in with the Eurasian Wigeon flock and interesting to see its wing pattern - the first time I have managed to get a photo of it in flight.

Hi Chris - as always, fantastic shots - always wondered what the wings would be like on the hybrid - secondaries look like teal but whitish greater covert patch from the wigeon - a fascinating bird. Cheers, Matt
ReplyDeleteHi Matt - I knew of all people that you would appreciate the hybrid duck photos! It is a really interesting bird and I was pleased to see the wing markings finally. I am sure it will stick around, so hopefully you will be able to pay your respects again!
