Spot the Purple Sand

Had only my second Purple Sandpiper on the patch yesterday, the first being on 12th November 2013. The bird was on the rocks near Otter Ledge (same area as last year). To be fair they are probably more regular in Budleigh, but they are easily hidden on the rocks and often in an inaccessible spot where you cannot see them!

  1. Nice one Chris - always a great bird to get on your patch. Habitat is good there and eastwards for some distance. Wonder just how many go unseen. I think we had 14+ (should check) on Maer rocks on one day last year - I assume they get on the rocks below Straight Point which is inaccessible - much like much of the coastline east of Budleigh.
