Bittern Dip but amazing Starling roost

Monday 11th January
Things are seeming to thaw a little today but the big news was of a Bittern seen today mid morning by a visiting birder. Despite a good search this afternoon until dusk, there was sadly no sign! Tomorrow's another day!

Highlights today:
Shoveler - 4

Tufted Duck - 3
Water Rail - 4+

Black-tailed Godwit - 4
Whimbrel - 1 heard
Eider - on sea

RT Diver - 1 on sea
Jack Snipe - 1 still
Starling - An impressive roost tonight with an estimated count of near 15,000 birds, again roosting in the conifers tonight.
